Info about SBC

SBC’s beliefs

Surbiton is a large population centre with a rich industrial history and excellent transport links. It has a strong and independent business community.

SBC exists because we believe that Surbiton businesses benefit from collaboration and from increased exposure to local people – their customers, suppliers and influencers who can help them to become even more successful.

Businesses come in all shapes and sizes. SBC caters for all of them if they operate in Surbiton, from the kitchen table start-up to the multi-national.

How does SBC operate?

We have a membership who pay a small annual subscription, a Board to manage affairs and working groups.  We have a constitution which you can download explaining the mission and function of SBC in more detail.

We work very closely with the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK).

SBC’s history

SBC came into being on the initiative of a few founding business people supported by a seed grant from RBK.  SBC is a young group, having held it very first Annual Members Meeting on 11 June 2015, but our timeline already includes some significant achievements. You can see some of the things that we have been doing if you follow us on social media.

Many of the initial meetings were held at Glenmore House, the Surbiton Masonic Lodge.  SBC’s official base is at the local work hub, Maple Works.
